Truck won't start and starter stays running. by Gager » Tue Feb 08, 2011 12:53 am. Hi, My 2007 F-150 developed an issue today. At lunch the truck wouldn't start. The engine turns over, but the engine wouldn't fire. When I released the key, the engine kept turning over. Had to turn the key to off to get the starter to stop.

This has been beaten to death over on the other forum, with some guidance from a member who happens to engineer the battery/alternator systems for the F150. Plug into it with Forscan, update the battery type if you made any changes (flooded vs AGM, larger battery size), and initiate the reset. Nov 7, 2009 · If it cranks but doesn't start, it's probably a fuel problem or ignition problem. Check the filters, gas gauge, ignition fuse, ignition relay, fuel pump. Turn the key to on while having your ear next to the fuel pump (may require 2 people or really really long arms) and see if the fuel pump primes. If not, that will cause it.

If you were having a problem before, chances are you have either a bad fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator that is allowing the fuel to drain back into the tank. Do you have a fuel pressure guage. If not, turn the key on but do not try to crank.If the engine won’t start just cranks, there’s something wrong with the fuel system. A common reason is the tripped inertia fuel shutoff switch.
