Once you have the PC sheet for the companion made open the new compendium (AC class and ancestries) and drag in the animal companion class (shared by all companions) and the ancestry for your companion.The animal companion is good for every edge, if you plan a good action pattern. And remember, animal companions do a lot more than flanking. Some support effects (bear, bird, and wolf) do things when you strike.
