The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences is committed to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion in our learning, research and clinics. We care deeply about the well-being of SLHS students. Among other initiatives, the department offers networking opportunities with SLHS alumni and students from underrepresented populations.Speech/Language Clinic Program. Speech/Language Diagnostic Services- Children and adults suspected of having communication disorders (i.e., articulation, voice, fluency, apraxia, aphasia, cognitive-communication, and verbal and written language) are seen at the University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic: A United Way agency (USLHC) in order to evaluate their speech and language behavior. The department maintains a Speech and Language clinic to serve as a clinical and research laboratory on campus for both graduate and undergraduate students. Field placements are available in local hospitals, rehabilitation agencies, language/speech/hearing clinics, and public schools.
