safe forest at Calaveras Big Trees, resource managers have been conducting prescribed fires here since the mid 1970’s. A prescribed fire (or burn) is set under very specific conditions and is designed to achieve specific goals. Many parts of the park have been burned, including several sections of forest along this trail.This was our second time to Big Trees. We camped the first time. I love the park. The area we camped in was close to the road so we heard traffic all day and some at night, which I didn't like. But the environment is beautiful and there is always a lot to do.
