Foraging is still the way. I usually have a handful of chipped stone within 1-3 game days of foraging. Eventually found out I could right-click shoes and with with them for various things including chipped stones. Make sure you only check the materials box when you first start foraging. Definitely this.

For whatever reason when foraging I can never seem to find stones since the update to 41. Is anyone else having this problem? I can find every thing else though.

Nov 25, 2017 · It really sucks when you can't find an axe because the stone axes break after felling just 2 trees. Even more annoying is that the game has two types of rocks: chipped an normal. But you can only use the chipped ones which are more rare while leaving you with mountains of useless rocks. Not at all, worth checking. The stats aren't even terrible - axes all have amazing crit rates/damage, it's lightweight so stamina drain is very light, and a few professions get bonus axe xp.
