Green shale

The studied soil comprises of a top layer (layer A, 2m thick) of hard green gypsiferous shale, this layer is followed by a 4m thick layer (layer B) of dense yellowish green shale. Layer B is underlain by a very dense green shale (layer C, 2m thick). Beneath layer C, the material changes to hard reddish gray shale (layer D, 2m thick).

Green shale. The presence of micaceous minerals gives the rock a green color. Black and blue colors are often due to organic and carbonate elements. Different colors of shale Rock Composition Shale and other mudstones are primarily composed of clay minerals. The major clay minerals include kaolinite, illite, and montmorillonite.
