This activity explores drawing lines of best fit. Students first investigate some common misconceptions of lines of best fit, then they try and draw their own comparing them to the theoretical best fit line.

Students will use the data given in a table to write an equation for the line of best fit ( using linear regression on a graphing utility), then use the equation to make a prediction for another value. There are 12 problems total. For each problem, students match the line of best fit with the prediction of a value.The first portion of results contains the best fit values of the slope and Y-intercept terms.
