It's good that they finally allowed players to stop at cybernetic instead of transitioning it into synthetic, but it's a bit of a shame that those paths are also mutually exclusive now, and also that it's now impossible to get psionic cybernetic pops and other fun combinations..

Mar 9, 2022 · cybernetics are very OP as it is the first perk of the ascension path and you added some insanely strong bonuses in comparison to psionic which is a tier 2 ascension trait. I would add is a change in pop upkeep: once cybernetic your pops could gain +25% energy upkeep and -50% food upkeep in order to represent the transition toward machines. Cybernetics has suprisingly high amount of pop growth for a wide Hive Mind empire. Habitability bonus from Cybernetic trait translates into growth for all those non-ideal planet types. Also, +2 augmentation drones is a great as well which comes bit later. Pop efficiency is amazing in Cybernetics as well.

The main trait for cybernetic is kind of similar, but the other traits are a bit lackluster. The same can be said of synthetic. The advantage of genetic ascension is that you get to pick which bonuses you want to give your pops, and these are stronger than any other bonus in very specific areas. ….
