It is a portion of the mandible (lower jaw) from the right side of the skull. The specimen shows off the foramen, and contains seven complete teeth still attached to the jaw and a partially exposed, unerupted tooth.Another mosasaur of similar size to Platecarpus was the more recent mosasaur Prognathodon.
