NSU: A BRIEF HISTORY. North South University (NSU), the first private university in Bangladesh, was established in 1992 by the then Foundation for Promotion of Education and Research (FPER), a charitable, non-profit, non-commercial and non-political organization.

It is driven by volunteers in over 20 chapters located throughout the country. The scholarships are primarily funded by The NorthSouth Foundation established in the US in Illinois as a 501c3 non-profit organization.
