Factorio steam turbine

Steam turbine can consume steam at a very high pressures, but steam engine is limited to fairly low pressures (otherwise it explodes). So it makes best sense if steam engines would consume less steam if it's overheated to produce same amount of power, still capping at 900 kW output.

Factorio steam turbine. Condenser Turbine Operation[edit] The condenser turbine takes 100 to 999 degrees C steam as an input, and outputs water and power. It also has an internal …

Currently using a mod that adds new tiers of steam engines. I upgraded to "steam engine 2" which now has 1.8 MW of max output. The problem is, when I hover my cursor over the engine it is still only producing 900 KW of power and not moving from that amount.

May 25, 2017 · A turbine can work with steam from boilers, but it can consume at most 60/s. Because steam from boilers has a much lower temperature (and therefor has less energy), the turbine can produce at most 1.8 MW of electricity from that steam instead of the 5.8 MW it is at most capable of. That's not true at all. Turbines only consume 60 units of steam per second, which means that on 165C steam, they can only generate 1.8MW of power. You need to use nuclear power/heat exchangers with steam turbines to get anything approaching max efficiency. Steam turbines are meant to use steam at 500°.I am trying to create an assembly machine that looks like the steam-turbine and animates when it crafts. The assembly is supposed to have one steam input and one water output, crafting steam back into water (and animating and making smoke like the steam turbine in the process). This means that you would ideally put 2 steam engines directly on the steam output of the boiler (well, the second is on the output of the first engine obviously). A third steam engine means you need to get a second boiler as well for it. Yes, steam engines, sorry! (I have the game in my native language and didn't know what they were called in ...While your statement about boilers is correct, your comment as a whole isn't. Those aren't boilers, they're heat exchangers (connected to a nuclear reactor with heat pipes). I don't remember the exact ratio, but heat exchangers produce just over 100 steam/sec and steam turbines consume 60 steam/sec, so it's not a 1:1.< 1 2 > Showing 1 - 15 of 26 comments piccolo255 Sep 15, 2018 @ 7:17am You can, but the turbines will be much more expensive. From the wiki ( https://wiki.factorio.com/Steam_turbine ): While designed for the 500°C steam of a nuclear reactor, turbines can still be connected to boilers for use in conventional 165°C steam power. That's from a mod, probably angels. You can figure this out by looking at the fluid production and consumption rates - one offshore pump creates 1200 water/second, one boiler consumes 60 water and produces 60 steam a second, and one steam engine consumes 30 water a second to produce electricity.Steam Turbines are meant to work on 500 degree steam, otherwise they will not work at full performance. Regular boilers only create 165 degree steam. You need a nuclear reactor and heat exchangers to make steam for the turbines. When using boilers, just use regular engines. TrueXPixels • 6 yr. ago.Steam engines/turbines throttle their power generation according to consumption, they don't "shut down" unless solar panels meet 100% of your need. They let steam through regardless. It looks like all your water is in one or two pipelines, and I don't see any pumps. The heat exchangers are probably water starved. To calculate how many steam engines worth of coal a fast belt can support, you may use the following formula: 8000 KW (Fuel value) * 0.5 (Boiler efficiency) * 26.67 items/s (Fast belt throughput) / 900 KW (Steam engine output) = ~118.53 engines. As discussed on page 14 of this thread, the number aesthetics and tiny increase in energy production ...Steam is a gas created by heating water in a boiler or heat exchanger. After being distributed via pipes, steam can be used to generate electricity via steam engines and steam turbines. Steam is also used in coal …Alternatively some lines could be bigger than the others, and by mixing fluid flow at the end you can get your perfect steam turbine ratio. A 4 core reactor needs at least 5 pumps of water. I would suggest 6-8 for water pumps for cleaner ratios, as over building on water is cheaper than overbuilding on anything else.

Click on the condensor turbine. The symbol on the left shows you how much steam it has, if that's empty, then you don't have enough steam. There are two symbols on the right "condensing steam" and water. Condensing steam is steam that is actively producing power (a bit weird), it'll drop to zero, and then more steam (on the left) is processed ...Find blueprints for the video game Factorio. You have not connected this power station to your base. Easiest thing is to check the map and turn off everything but electric connections. Make sure the blue line is fully connected ...You need tanks, but each tank holds way more energy than any vanilla accumulator, so that's not a vast amount of space either. And then your backup turbines, which you can pack into a tight rectangle. All in all, a robust hydrogen battery system for 100 wind turbine 1s, might take up the space footprint between maybe just 8 of those wind turbines. If you go the steam engine route, you'd get more power from 2 steam engines and 3 boilers, and both of those are very quick to craft by hand (1.5 sec total for boilers, 5.5 sec total for steam engines, compared to 9.8 sec for each wind turbine). Re: Getting steam turbines to cool down steam? by bobingabout » Tue Aug 01, 2017 1:58 pm. The way steam engines work right now is pretty much based on the old method. Consume water. Test temperature. Take current temp - starting temp, multiply this number by energy per degree value. Produce this much power.

Possible causes are: 1) water not getting from lake to boiler. 2) boilers lacking fuel. 3) water not getting from boiler to steam engine. 4) electricity pole not positioned correctly to next to steam engine. 5) electricity pole not positioned correctly next to powered item. You have steam feeder pipes entering the turbines from both ends. This means they can draw from either input. Due to the way the game updates the fluid flow deterministically (based on map chunk & entity build order), this often produces some strange-looking effects when you have loops in the pipework (ie: fluid "sloshing" back & forth). Can a Steam Turbine work using steam from a boiler? Also, is there any efficiency difference between a Steam engine and a Steam Turbine? Adds steam engines/turbines with different priorities. Changelog Version: 1.0.2 Date: 2022-10-09 Fixes: - Incompatability reported by LabsJ - Removed unneccesary debug loggingThat's way too many turbines for 1 reactor. As others have said, reactors produce a constant amount of heat and the heat exchanges can turn that heat into steam. If a reactor stays at 500 C, you know you are extracting 100% of the heat it is producing. If it gets to 1000 C you are wasting heat.Adjacent reactors get a heat bonus. 1x2 grid gets a +100% heat bonus to each reactor, meaning 2 reactors make 4 reactors worth of heat. So a 2x2 grid has 4 reactors, and each reactor gets +200% heat from it's two adjacent neighbors (+100% each), meaning you get the same heat as 4 + (4*2) = 12 reactors.Re: Steam turbine ratios with daytime solar? One heat exchanger produces around 103 steam/s, that's 103 steam/s * 1s/60tick * 25000 tick/day = 42916.66 steam/day. One steam turbine consumes 60 steam/s * 1s/60tick * 25000 tick/day * 30%day/night = 7500 steam/night. That results in 5.72 turbines (and 1.716 storage tanks) per heat …7 steam turbines between pumps: 3000 fluid/s . Steam turbines also consume fluid as it flows thru them. So all the steam doesn't need to flow all the way to the last turbine while they are in operation. This means you can feed steam for up to 48 turbines from just one pump (turbines need to be connected directly to each other, no pipes!)1:20:40 pump to boiler to steam engine. Edit: so 1:2 boiler to steam engine ratio to answer your question more specifically. Let him do the math next time. 3.6MW boiler at 50% efficiency is 1.8MW of steam.
