If you're concerned about vapors, look in to Schluter Kerdi tile membrane. It's waterproof and you just apply it with thinset. They have some good instructional videos on YouTube. Yes exactly! As I found out redgard over thinset and mesh tape between cement backer board and tub/shower pan will not hold up very long.
