Both great schools, Michigan has more name recognition as a place for top programs across the board. Even if son had gotten in to Michigan, it would have been hard to rationalize - for us - the higher OOS tuition at Michigan, but others might see it differently. UW is about $27k vs. around $39k or so for Michigan.

Michigan will accept about 15,000 applicants overall, EA and RD. About 50% of them during EA.
