Top fin 5 gallon tank filter

I recently set up a 5.5 gallon tank for a betta. The tank came with a Top Fin Silenstream Power 10 filter, the basic filter that Top Fin includes in its 2 - 10 gallon set ups. I bought a sponge to go over the intake valve, and so far the intake has not been a problem for my betta. I'm a little worried about the output though.
